Answers to common questions

faq

Many women who are considering breast reduction surgery ask a similar set of questions and below we have attempted to answer some of them for you.

I am considering breast reduction surgery.  How do I choose the best size to suit me?

This can easily be determined during a consultation with one of our surgeons.  You can discuss what your goals are and the surgeon can advise you on what is going to suit your frame best.

Is there a price difference between regular breast reduction surgery and laser breast reduction surgery in Thailand?

There is usually no difference in the cost of the two procedures.  The operating room fees, operation fees and anaesthesia costs are the same for both surgeries.

Can I breastfeed after the surgery?

Yes, if you have the laser bra or laser-assisted breast reduction done, then there is no need to do a free nipple graft and the nipple is not detached from the breast.  This means that the milk ducts are still intact.

Will I ever need to repeat this surgery?

Usually this is a one-time surgery with effects that should last a lifetime.  In the event that you gain excessive amounts of weight your breast size will increase, perhaps necessitating the need for a second surgery.

Is breast reduction paid for by insurance?

Many insurance companies do, in fact, pay for breast reduction surgery.  However, they will not cover breast lift surgery.

Does it cost more money to combine a breast lift with a laser breast reduction?

No.  Combining a breast lift with a laser-assisted surgical breast reduction does not cost any more than simply doing the laser breast reduction alone.

Where is the surgery performed?

The surgery will be performed in a state of the art professional medical facility where all your requirements and post-operative needs will be taken care of my caring and highly skilled staff.

How long will I need to stay in town?

Most out of town patients elect to remain in Thailand for 1 week after their surgical procedure as this gives the body time to heal before travelling.

How much does it cost?

The fees involved will differ depending on which procedure, or combination of procedures, you elect to have done.

I do not have anyone who can come with me, can I come alone?

Yes!  Many of our patients fly out on their own and do very well during the recovery process.  We do ask that the patient then stays in our after care facility for three nights after the surgery and then we see them every other day until their return flight home.

Can I go home after the breast surgery or do I need to stay overnight in the hospital?

Most of our patients stay overnight in the hospital after the surgery so that they can receive adequate care directly after the procedure.

Will I lose sensation?

In most cases a free nipple graft is not performed and so sensation is retained in this area.  However, should a free nipple graft be performed during a breast lift and laser-assisted breast reduction, some patients may well lose sensation.

Does insurance cover the cost of a laser bra?

There are many insurance companies today that will cover the costs of a breast reduction procedure, particularly if the patient has problems with neck ache, backache, headaches and other similar symptoms.  Insurance companies will not cover breast lifts or breast augmentation for aesthetic purposes alone.
